People are always saying "take a look at the bigger picture". Really? I'm having a hard time learning how to paint (figuratively speaking) how the hell am I supposed to look at a picture I haven't even drawn yet? Well today I believe I had two "bigger picture" moments.

As I still learn how to properly hold the paint brush and maybe learn which colors accent the others in the best way, I've began to have a vision of what my painting is going to look like. You know - the painting that is this "bigger picture". I was thinking about dropping the last class I just added because I really don't like it but I need the credits to graduate in April. I came to the conclusion today that after all the classes I've had and all the shitty lectures I've had to sit through what does it matter if there's one more of those? In the bigger picture that I'm painting I don't even think this class will be a brush stroke in the far corners of the painting. It's only 10 more weeks and the project isn't that hard, I thought ".JUST DO IT!". So I am, I'll tough it out and just do the work because in the end it will all be worth it.

Also today I had an important issue weighing heavy on my mind and I had to figure it out. So I called someone who I could trust to give me the advice I was looking for. We talked and they showed me the bigger picture. I think I already knew what to do but, I think I had to hear it from that person because their opinion is so important to me. So thank you ...once again... to them, it's not the first time and won't be the last I call for advice.

So when someone tells you to "look at the bigger picture", don't just take it as a pop culture phrase. Maybe like me you are still learning to draw, or shoot maybe you haven't even been to the store to buy your paint brush yet. But I'm sure you have at least the smallest idea of what you want to paint. Close your eyes, imagine how great your painting can be, and make your decisions today based on how your vision for tomorrows looks.
